Tonight, we will be focusing on the protection and physical stamina needed for our national leaders and those serving to help the victims of hurricane Helene across seven states. The Bible explains, “In this world you will experience tribulation, but be of good cheer, for I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33b)
Our faith does not remove us from the reality of worldly spiritual warfare or physical tribulation but carefully note that our Lord fully overcame the world! This is why James wrote, “Count it all joy my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds…” (James 1:2)
When we ask for God’s protection, both personally and for our national leaders, that request should include, “if it be Your will.” (Luke 22:42) Why? Because it was God’s will for outstanding leaders like Stephen, Peter, and Paul to die for the cause of Christ. This is a hard reality that we must remember, but equally as important, the Bible says, “No weapon that is formed against you will succeed; and you will condemn every tongue that accuses you in judgment. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their vindication is from Me, declares the Lord.” (Isaiah 54:17)
Some of our national leaders and many of the rescue volunteers are highly dedicated Christians, but others are still seekers, and still others are sadly living in conflict with Christianity. We are to pray for all of them, so let’s ask for their strength and protection in the name of Christ.
