2024 Disciplemaking Training Report – Evangelical Methodist Church of Costa Rica
– by Bishop Dr. Luis Fernando Palomo
God’s mission continues to advance in Costa Rica through the intentional efforts of the
Evangelical Methodist Church. In my role as Bishop, I have personally accompanied the
entire discipleship process. I have had the opportunity to witness the fruits of this process, which has profoundly impacted the lives of pastors, students, and believers. This report details the intensive work carried out over the last three years, with a national focus that has brought the message of the gospel to thousands of people.

Development of National Work
In the last three years, the Evangelical Methodist Church of Costa Rica has implemented a strategic plan to strengthen discipleship and Christian leadership nationwide through a discipleship department involving Dr. Luis F. Palomo, Ronny Castillo, Daniel Sandi,
Eddier Cortes, and Yemnier Torres, who will develop and follow up on training at the
national level. This effort has involved 120 pastors, spread across 13 conferences, who have worked with dedication and consistency to fulfill God’s mission.
One of the fundamental pillars of this project has been the Evangelical Methodist Seminary of Costa Rica. The seminary has played a crucial role in the theological and practical training of Christian leaders, offering a national training program that has reached 947students across its 13 locations. These students have received the necessary training to lead with excellence in their ministerial contexts and have been officially certified by the institution.

Impact of Discipleship and Testimonials
The impact of this work has been significant, not only in terms of academic training but
also in the spiritual lives of new believers. Throughout this process, we have witnessed over 1000 persons make first time commitments to Christ after responding to the call to joy and faith. Additionally, we estimate that another 5,000 people have renewed their walk with God and are currently being accompanied in the discipleship process by trained pastors and leaders.
This combined effort has resulted in a total of 7,420 people involved throughout the process, including pastors, students, new believers, and committed believers, who are
experiencing a transformative journey in their relationship with God. According to our
calculations we are presently reaching an average of 15,000 people in discipleship
ministries.

Conclusion
We foremost affirm that discipleship is the principal mission of the church and involves an integrated process. The Disciple Makers material has proven to be an effective method for making lifelong disciples and has demonstrated itself as a powerful tool for the
advancement of the Kingdom of God in Costa Rica.
The Evangelical Methodist Church remains committed to the mission of making disciples of Christ, equipping its leaders with the knowledge and tools necessary to guide the next generation of believers.
This report is a testament to the effort and dedication of many, and to the tangible impact of discipleship in the lives of thousands of people. The future is promising, and we continue with the conviction that God’s mission will be fulfilled, expanding His Kingdom in every
corner of our country.
Our deepest thanks and gratitude to the ministry of “Becoming a Disciple-Maker” for all the help provided to the Evangelical Methodist Church of Costa Rica, and to Dr. Billie Hanks.
Respectfully,
Dr. Luis Fernando Palomo
