Creation – The Disciple-Making Lifestyle

“He was with God in the beginning.
Through Him all things were made…” (John 1:2)

Part One

To meaningfully contemplate the origin of our physical universe, one has to first appreciate the amazing depth of God’s creative power. We cannot comprehend the mystery of His eternally sovereign existence, but we can understand from Scripture that His spiritual kingdom has always existed. Just as we were created for the purpose of knowing and loving Him – the Bible explains that angels were made to serve and obey Him in reverence. This is why the Bible says, “…Let all God’s angels worship Him.” (Hebrew 1:6b) Their spiritual worship started in heaven long before man’s concept of time ever existed.

The Lord spoke about angels explaining that even our children’s “…angels in heaven always see the face of His Father in heaven.” (Matthew 18:10b) In contrast to that incredible privilege, many angels will never be allowed to see Jesus’ Father’s face again! Why? Because like all humankind, angels were also given free wills. They were created to carry out God’s holy wishes, but some exercised their freedom of choice unwisely and rebelled against their Creator! For that reason, the Bible reveals that they were expelled from heaven due to their proud rebellion! In reference to that historic event, the Lord said, “…I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.” (Luke 10:18)

Part Two

Because most of the world still lives in spiritual darkness, its population neither understands the actual meaning or history of – God’s truth, or of – evil. Jesus stated the sad reason behind this spiritual situation when He explained, “Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil.” He went on to say, “Everyone who does evil hates the light and will not come into the light…” (John 3:18-19) This is the reason for the world’s current spiritual condition!

An unbeliever’s dependence on ever-changing science, man-made philosophy and religion, plus the human desire to escape accountability makes “free will’s” impact on mankind painfully real. The sovereignly chosen means for our cleansing was lovingly adopted at an eternal time understood only by God. However, the Bible clearly teaches that repentance was needed for heaven to host even one forgiven sinner. Jesus said, “I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.” (Luke 15:10) The viral – result of man’s self-centeredness and sinful actions left no one pure – in any generation (see Romans 3:10). We all became disappointments to our creator, much like the fallen angels!

Part Three

The Lord graciously provided us with a global overview of salvation. He explained, “… God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him. Whoever believes in Him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.” (John 3:17-18)

As you minister today, remember that you are on a rescue mission. The fallen spiritual condition of the world is not our own generation’s solitary fault. However, choosing to remain in its lost condition is definitely each person’s choice! Today, as you pray for the privilege of discussing God’s love with others, prepare to carry a booklet which explains God’s plan for experiencing His grace. Pray to be ready to share your personal testimony about knowing and loving your Savior. Remember to explain and illustrate John 1:12, “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to all who believed on His name.”
